KeraLink International and Shroff’s Charitable Eye Hospital Collaboration (SCEH)

KeraLink International (KLI) is excited to announce a new partnership with Shroff’s Charitable Eye Hospital (SCEH). Shroff’s is a globally renowned eye care organization dedicated to focusing on strengthening corneal services at each level of care throughout the community.

The partnership between KeraLink and Shroff’s will bring together decades of experience, resources and networks aimed at strengthening cornea services throughout India. Our organizations have a shared commitment to eradicate corneal disease, and train more personnel in early detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment to help combat patients with a need.  Together, our two leading organizations aim to create a more significant impact in the field of corneal health.

During our collaboration KLI and SCEH will have an opportunity to do the following:

  • Collaborate to strengthen corneal services throughout India
  • Train non-clinicians in novel and innovative technologies to detect and refer corneal disease in the local communities they serve.
  • Train and equip technicians in Vision Centers (VC’s) with smart phone technology to detect, diagnose and refer corneal disease
  • Increase Tele-ophthalmology consultations
  • Increase Ophthalmology staffing in VC’s.
  • Train general ophthalmologists in corneal procedures; increasing the number of surgeons performing corneal procedures throughout India, and more rural populations
  • Increase the number of corneal procedures in secondary centers to reach more rural areas of India
  • Increase the number of microbiology labs to diagnose keratitis

SCEH is a non-profit organization based in New Delhi, India, that provides high-quality eye care services to people in India and other developing countries. Dr. S.P. Shroff, a renowned ophthalmologist who believed in making eye care accessible to all, established SCEH in 1914.  Over the next century, the hospital grew into a network of hospitals and clinics that offer a range of services, including comprehensive eye examinations, cataract surgeries, corneal transplants, glaucoma treatments, and pediatric ophthalmology.

SCEH’s mission is to provide world-class eye care services to people, especially those from underprivileged sections of society. The hospital has a strong commitment to research and innovation, with a focus on developing new treatments and technologies that can improve the lives of people with eye diseases and disorders.  Shroffs offers a range of services and programs that are designed to meet the diverse needs of its patients. These services include comprehensive eye examinations, cataract surgeries, corneal transplants, glaucoma treatments, and pediatric ophthalmology. The hospital also provides low-cost and free services to people from economically weaker sections of society.

The hospital has also implemented several innovative programs to increase access to eye care services. These programs include outreach camps, teleophthalmology, and training programs for ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals. The hospital’s outreach camps are conducted in remote and underserved areas, providing free eye examinations and surgeries to thousands of people every year. The teleophthalmology program uses technology to provide remote consultations and diagnosis, enabling patients to access eye care services from anywhere.

SCEH has become a leading institution in eye care, providing services to thousands of people across India and other developing countries. It performs over 40,000 surgeries annually; has examined over 500,000 patients in the last 5 years; and each year conducts over 100 outreach camps that provide free eye care services to over 20,000 patients.
